The state of Gujarat lies on the western coast of India. In fact, it is the westernmost state in India and is bordered by Pakistan and Rajasthan in the north east, Madhya Pradesh in the east, and Maharashtra and the Union territories of Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli in the south.

History of Gujrat

The history of Gujarat that dates back to 3500 years can be known from the archaeological findings at Lothal near Dhandauka in Ahmedabad district and Razdi in Saurashtra. The earliest stone age settlements in Gujarat are situated on the margins of the South Asian zone. Some of these settlements are located at Rojadi near Rajkot and Adamgarh, near the Gujarat-Madhya Pradesh border, Sabarmati and Mahi rivers in the south.

The Indus Valley and Harappa civilization has been discovered at Lothal, Rangpur, Amri, Lakhabaval and Rozdi. In 1954, these sites were discovered as one of the most remarkable Indus Valley sites in India.

VIA TRAIN : Gujarat, within the state as well as outside is linked very well through the railways. It comes under the Western Railway Zone of the Indian Railways and consists of many railway stations. However, the busiest railway station of them all is the Vadodara Railway Station as it lies on the Mumbai - Delhi Mainline. Some other important railway stations are: Surat Railway Station, Ahmedabad Railway Station and Rajkot Railway Station. Super fast trains run on a regular basis connecting Ahmedabad to Mumbai and Delhi.

VIA ROAD : Gujarat is known for the best roadways in the Western India, consisting of several two to four lane highways. The roadway network connects to the entire country. Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation is the main service outlet of buses and other public transportation, within the state and to the other states in India. The buses are accordingly rated on the basis of the comfort and price, ranging from the air- conditioned coaches to a simple and old one. The car travelers are going to fall in love with the highways of Gujarat.
